Holy Night 10 – 2021

January 2-3 – Libra: TRANSFORMATION: CLEAR SEEING/DECIDING

The night in which the greatest sacrifice grows from service: learning to listen to the inner voice and the signs of divinity, and to hear them obediently.

Mystery: the voice calling in us through our various incarnations. Its clarity grows through sacrifice and decision.

Tenth Contemplation: Kristina Kaine

As we live on this material earth it is important that we learn to recognize signs of divinity. Divinity is the expression of the Divine Being that underpins all creation, and as humanity has changed over eons, so has the expression of this Divine Being.

In his Anthroposophical Leading Thoughts, written towards the end of his life, Rudolf Steiner spoke clearly about this Being.

“The Divine Being which will thus shine forth through Humanity will no longer be the same Divine Being which was once the Cosmos. In its passage through Humanity, the Divine-Spiritual will come to a realization of Being which it could not manifest before. […]In the modern conception of Nature man has no relation to the Divine, but only to the accomplished Work. With all that is imparted to the human soul by this science of Nature, man can unite himself either with the powers of Christ or with the dominions of Ahriman.” Anthroposophical Leading Thought 112 The Activity of Michael and the Future of Mankind

Particularly important are the words, “In its passage through Humanity, the Divine-Spiritual will come to a realization of Being which it could not manifest before.” This speaks directly of the passage of Christ through the Jesus being. It also speaks of the passage of Christ through our being. This is “the voice calling in us through our various incarnations.”

When we decide to listen for the inner voice we will hear it. It is our decision. When this decision is pure and clear it activates Christ, the Divine Being, within us. If our decision is based on ego, the anti-force, the dominions of Ahriman will be activated. We are called to sacrifice our ego, it has served us well on this earth but now it’s task is complete.

Our goal is to have conversations with Christ, he will give us the clarity we need to step into the future.

Yesterday was tough. I just stayed at home and felt awful. 

I know what it was - I didn't have coffee... OMG. I didn't realise I was a coffee addict. My espressoooo...

I am working on a new drawing which I may do instead of writing. 

I could do both I guess. And then I'm going for my run hell or high water do or die. 

I used to believe in an inner voice. I used to be compelled by it and then, that belief disappeared. Did it disappear though? I don't think it did. I just need the energy and habit and will to realise it. To do it even if I have a sense it is not working out. Like this gorgeous drawing of a bird. And the Aquarian February painting. I just need to keep the faith.

I have out down Incarnation: Clear Seeing/Deciding. Yeah that makes sense because, Libra. 

OMG Coffee... coffee was the answer. This is kinda bad now, I think. It just did not feel right until this morning.

Alcohol and Cigarettes. I could do a set of calendar years which are edgier. But maybe not this year. I'm making good progress with the drawings. Really loving them. I never realised that firstly, Aquarius was massive and secondly that it was literally a person pouring water from a jug. It is one of the few constellations which look like the thing it is supposed to be. It is also the Night of the Eagle in the Holy Nights, the Night of John, but in Greek mythology Gaynamede was abducted by Zeus in the form of an eagle, so that was an interesting connection there.

Working with colour pencils is painstaking but very controllable. The trick with them is to do it like a scan, bit by bit so that the picture emerges together. I'm REALLY enjoying it. Very different from working in watercolour. Couldn't be more different. Finally putting the Derwents to good use. And the water that was so easily done. Far easier than I thought it would be.

The eagle, my first bird of prey has turned out really well. Just need to sort its eye out.

Geylang Serai is the place i feel most at home in Singapore. Possibly because a vast majority of the population are still Singaporean and i speak the language they speak there - Malay. Also, it hasn't changed that much. OK, it has, but i'd like to think it hasn't. We ate at the new market there which used to be a little better than an open sewer. But it was our open sewer and we loved it. Geylang was heaving with people getting ready for Ramadan. On the table we have sup kambing, otak-otak, nasi padang and rojak. Drinkswise we have lime juice, Kickapoo and teh. It is hot - really hot. We are all pespiring and we can feel our clothes stick to our skin and bellies and thighs. Our hair is continuously in our faces, dripping and sticking too. The only thing that brings relief is a soak in the pool or a shower and an airconditioned room. The Central Business District

The Thinker in the OUE building Yesterday i attended a talk which was organised by some environmentalists here. It was held in the NTUC building which was in the middle of the business district. It has been years since i have been here, so i set out early to walk about the place. Everything is very very large  I arrived during rush hour and people were simply pouring out of the MRT. The crowds were swarming down escalators and out of offices - but they were not overground. No, they were underground, at the MRT. In fact thee was no one above ground. For the business district at rush hour, above ground was eerily quiet! There must be dozen of buildings which look like these To think that hundreds of thousands of people work in places like this. I used to work in a place like this. Admittedly these buildings are far more swishy and very sleek. It was like being in some espionage film set in the future. 19.3.26 - 74 - Eulogy: What will survive of us is love

I wrote and read this for Pa at the service. It was in long hand, but I have it here typed out now. It is peppered with verses from the New Testament, because I was asked by the priest to refer to Jesus occasionally, so I made that concession. Big shout out to Ben and the Christian Community whom I spent many a delighted evening reading and discussing the Bible during Bible study class. =========================== Thank you everybody for coming here to honour the life of husband, father and legend which is Eric Sim Chin Seng. Pa crossed over on the 16th of March at 7.30 am. He went peacefully and gently. He breathed his way slowly past this life and on to the new one, leaving his bark, his body, which carried him and his indomitable spirit and endless capacity to love, for 81 years, to say farewell to one last time.
