13th floor

Image
More form the 13th floor... It rained this morning... We had breakfast The boys insisted i take photos of the cakes They're more like sugar sculptures That handbag cake was for a 14 year old girl's birthday It's sorta scary, what jinda of 14 yr old would want a cake from Shangri-la of a Chanel bag?

Keep it light enough to travel

Sitting up and thinking a little bit about the return back to Belfast. .It seems strange back in Singapore this time. Conversations are so much about how things are just a bit too much now. There is the issue of the entire place being a construction site, and then people complain about the migrants. To be honest, none of my friends complained about the migrants. Their complaints were a bit strange. People were going, it's really weird, we can't put our finger on it, but there is something not quite right about the place - and i have to agree with them. I can't put my finger on it either. Whatever it is, it isn't the same Singapore i used to know. Things seem to have run away with itself. It's all become a bit too big and a bit to unmanageable to take in and to understand. Who knows who has a handle on it all? The massive buildings, the people, the trains that are breaking dow it sn. You could argue that it is impossible that anyone could have a handle on its all. ...

Our last few days left in Singapore, i have so many strange and random thoughts about this place. I used to think maybe one day i'd return, but i'm not so sure anymore. In fact as the years pass i get less and less sure... but the boys have a great time here, as you can see and while there are good reasons to return - family, friends and hot weather... we will... here are the photos from the trip before i lost the camera and AFTER i got a new one. Oisin having fun with the new MIB die cuts Now that is funny New camera... Ghin at the prata shop outside This a good photo that... Love this one Ah the starling of Singapore, the most common bird here by far

We took a walk in the new route around the danau That's the danau ... i later wnet swimming in it! oh it is achingly beautiful... During the rainy season this place floods and the locals use a net to catch fish. That's the little hut they hide under to wait for the fish to arrive... can u see it? Wecloming back the guys

Image
OK so there isn't too much that can be said about these series of pictures. The guys were taken hostage and then returned back. And here we are welcoming them back. It's good to get the card sorted, but while i was doing this i lost the camera and then i had to buy a  new one. It was a better one, BUT i feel really awful getting a new on since the one i lost was so new. I think i'll hold on to this one till 2016, or thereabouts. It IS a really kick ass camera. That's Fahrul in the front there with the long hair and we are all assembled to welcome the men home to Harapan Pak Urip made a very moving speech about how we apprecaited what they went through and how when one of us is inconcvineinced, to say the least, everyone else is cos we are family The guys were asked to tell us what happened to them and then... We said a prayer and then everyone welcomed them back, even me!
