Doing MY homework at Coffee Club in Kinokuniya Was not very good coffee Oh I have been a bit fed up a lazy. Yesterday two things came to me. Well, many things. We ended up in Chinatown and Raffles Place, then I had my hair cut and then we were in Upper Pierce Reservoir. Well, then last night as I chilled with the boys in the bedroom two things came to me - firstly that I have no longer any more doubts about having left Singapore. It has evolved so completely away from any values I have had that the overall structure is become the national equivalent of one of those Jaegers in the Pacific Rim. I have also full confidence that it will eventually right itself, but it will take a better person than me to do this. The second is that all my life I have chosen to do the right thing. The right thing for me means the more meaningful thing. Often not in Singapore because I was too close to the place and had to much annoyance with it. Also it was difficult to do the right thing becau...

Together after a long day in the sun.... The jet planes have not stopped flying over our house for more than ten minutes. It feels as if they are circling, if F16s can do such a thing. It has been a busy day, spent mostly in Ngee Ann City, probably my least favourite part of Singapore on account of the rampant materialism accompanied by sheer pointlessness.  What is the weirdest things about materialism? It is the sheer amount of stuff that you just dont want or need. Walking in the large shopping malls of Singapore confirms this. Shop after shop after shop of stuff that i simply dont see the point of. Clothes which are badly made, food that is overpriced, and the noise from evereywhere. I wonder at what stage do people realise that all this is unhealthy? At what stage will they say, enough, this is enough. We do not need another place to buy more nonsense. We have enough. Yesterday i decided to cook. It is too expensive to eat out, considering the service you receive and the food ...

If you asked me what I value most of all, at this point in my life, it would have to be authenticity. There is something about authenticity which breathes, which is alive, which is kind, which simply is, which tries its best without calling attention to itself. That which is authentic is also healing. It gives life. It mends wounds. It plays. Telling the difference between that which is real and false is also something which has come with age. I have also learnt to trust this. Of course this is not to say I judge that which is false, it is just that I have learnt to value authenticity most of all. The most important quality of authenticity is love. If something is done with even the slightest bit of love, just like the Velveteen Rabbit, it is redeemed. If it is not, then...well...anyway... At the Serangoon Garden market there are many food stalls. Every morning for the past week my mom and I have come out for breakfast at the village centre and had something to eat which is uniqu...

I see the moon and the moon sees me...

We rewatched Hugo...Steampunk original lovelinesses This is post is inspired by a 1997 bottle of Medoc found lying in my mom's fridge, which is like THE BEST red wine i can ever remember having - and the moon. I am reading an article on the moon (this being the 21st century one can do several things at the same time), and it is FASCINATING what the medieval wans thought of the moon. Because information was not available in the middle ages so readily people had to rely on their senses - ie what they saw before them. Also i have since come to discover that we cannot trust human beings at all. This is because we are apt to talk shite. Especially if they are having a 1997 Medoc in a cut glass crystal wine glass. If there is one thing i have learnt is that there is no such thing as a fact. Somethings can be true for a while. Facts are for people who prefer the illusion. When i listen to people tell children facts i wince. Please don't do that i want to tell them. It is po...

Yishun Market I love this side of Singapore. Busy, bustling, completely straightforward...something REAL about it. Something organic and authentic. It was an old pig and pineapple farm area and then it was all cleared, or vanished, to make way for public housing. What happened to the farmers i asked an unknown person. Well, they were given a flat. OK, but what about their livelihoods. What happened to them? Well, it wasn't really a livelihood cos they only grew vegetables and they were small time farmers. No, seriously, i said, what happened to them? Well...er, i don't know. It is still a mystery to me, i shall find out. But it has that feel this place of a market trading town. Fruit stalls and clothing, etc Ghin hits the mother of all Ninjago Singapore is now full of imitation Lego. It is called Lele, Logo, Lago...you name it, it is it. In this coffee shop there are little plastic balls which go for $1 with real metal Ninjago weap...
