Yesterday's Nice Thing: Seeing Ghin get better, receiving a letter from Singapore Yesterday was probably the lowest I have been this year. For no apparent reason whatsoever. Ennui. God. Des[ite having so much to do - too much. But then I have realised this, that I CHOSE to have a boring life. I CHOSE THIS. So I have no one else to blame but myself. And why did I choose this, because it was the smart thing to do. It was. It is boring, as I wrote back, but also tough - teaching is a tough gig and I can't do an awful lot more really. And I have to protect my boundaries. I have never ever asked for glory or attention, despite this constantly being forced on me. And I have done all of this. If there is one thing I have come to realise - glory and attention, being great, is utterly pointless. The only thing that matters is the act of creation. Having spent lots of time with the Renaissance artists, it would seem that they got the most sense of meaning from doing their craft and...
