Stranger Things - and Melancholia in August

I went running yesterday and thought about Stranger Things, and I was also thinking about the study group last night. It was very interesting that Ben said that part of Christ's mission was to help the human body be a vessel for the spirit - which is such a huge strain on the body. A twelve year old goes through this - they receive their ego forces and for the first time perhaps get a glimpse of what it is they are meant to do in their lives. And this can be a terrifying experience. And so, this is what Stranger Things is about. The children get a glimpse of the spirit, and to them it is horrifying. It is such a burden. It could even swallow them whole - and they could lose themselves. Anyway, that is what I thought. And I thought that it was important that I looked upon this with compassion. They are undergoing changes which will be chucking them against walls and floors, literally, and I need to be aware of that all the time. It is a grey day today. I planned bits and piec...

The Impossible Connection

Today I woke up and I had a mild panic. I was worried that I had 'lost' that feeling for connection which I had, and then I realised that this was stupid. I cannot lose it because I am always connected to it. It is always holding me, I am always within it. So there is no need to fear the loss of any connection. It just will not happen. It cannot. You can be aware or unaware of it, but you can't lose it. I need to go for my run now. --------------------- Well it is now today. As in what i wrote was form yesterday. 24 hours have passed. I was sitting in the car and thinking oh no, I am running out of time, when I realised I have all the time I need. God gives us all the time we need. There is always the right amount of time. It was busy yesterday, and it was fulfilling. After school I did some admin and was quite successful. Then I headed down for dinner on my own. Just to relax. God, I am so blessed. After that I went for Study Group. We did Luke 5:12 - 17. It was abou...

Every sound imaginable

From 2015 I taught Ghin to ride a bike in this park near our house in Singapore There are words I wanted to write, type, this morning which did not seem adequate. Endless. Infinite. Forever. Expansive. Words which try to convey the limitless boundaries of being united, or wholeness. Of our interconnection. Words which go beyond language and yet, cannot. So I am only left, to describe a feeling, which begins somewhere at my heart and then transcends, somehow manages to, envelop all of the universe, connects me with everything. With all. In this connection there is no room for judgement. There is discernment, but with kindness. The whole of last year I spent, especially around November, getting feelings of doubt and really feeling an overwhelming emptiness when they did arrive. But now - those feelings of doubt are still there, BUT instead of having them, they are replaced with this pure knowing that everything is good, everything is connected. I think it has something to do wit...

I spent most of yesterday - well yesterday morning and afternoon - tidying my desk area. Here are the files I created - one for banking, one for household things, and one for personal info. Then I found the car document folder. I made one folder for very urgent things which I will be preoccupied with for a couple of days. And i sorted out the area under the desk. I threw away lots of things and I understood lots of things as i went along. And then, i felt ready for school. Everything in my head was now ready for school. My parents are very generous and i found lots of vouchers and gifts which i had not cashed in over the last year. I am going to do that now. I helped at the Holywood Maypole dancing and got a £25 M&S voucher for that. I also have £50 for the Iona shop. And I found some vouchers for a nice restaurant and a healing treatment. It was like I had an early Christmas. My life I went running yesterday and because I ran a bit in Singapore running was very easy. It wa...

Post Singapore

Who's a pretty boy? I wasn't quite sure what i would blog about today. It has been such a strange week of illness and busyness. Yesterday we went to Nandos to celebrate Oisin's GCSE results. He had done well. The results encouraged him into knowing that if he worked harder he could improve and it is something Oisin is interested in doing. I mean 2As and 4Bs, and 2Cs are pretty decent, but he wants to do better. I have always just always said to him, you do what you need to do. We took the bus again into town. Belfast is a sleepy little hideyhole, a mere suburb compared to Singapore with its pugilistic architecture and the sheer numbers of people crammed into each square inch. I think the current density in Singapore now is 5,000 people per square km. Actually, i think it is higher. I just checked it is 8,300 pp/km sq. It was 5,000 pp/km sq when I left. And actually that was pretty bad. The last time i think it was half way tolerable was in 1980. But the Singaporean go...

In one piece

Hair there! It normally takes me about a week to get back to normal after the migration back home. I do not know how animals do it. Perhaps cos they do it off their own bat it is like a whole lot easier for them as they adjust their magnetic whatever's to the speed they re travelling. But usually it takes me a week. One hour for each time difference I encounter. This was not helped by a terrible flu and then followed by my period, which arrived on the second day of the flu. I did use this time of crisis well. I sang power ballads, deliriously and I also spent a lot of time working out my relationship with Singapore. On top of that, I also did manage to sort out my licence as well as do some planning. So it has not been a dead loss. But for the first time today, I feel like a proper member of the human race. My HAIR is the revelation. After spending all of the time in Singapura with it completely uncontrollable, it is now fine. Look, it is BACK to normal. I looked like some c...

Magic

Yesterday, I watched or rather listened to a poorly translated interview with Nikola Tesla about his thoughts on matter and light, and I also listened to a TED talk on the remote viewing programme which was funded by the CIA for twenty years. It was really fascinating. Well, I also listened to an interview by a Singaporean academic about the Oxley Road saga, but that's a different blog. But the remote viewing and the Tesla interview was fascinating because they were talking about the same phenomena which is interconnectedness. Both the talk and the interview also quoted Hindu an Bhuddist texts, saying that these concepts were not new. They also said that these insights were available to everyone, if they chose to access them, and that they were best used for a higher purpose, rather than a utilitarian one. First, the conclusion with Richard Kargman drew was that if you could do remote viewing it would be far better to be using this skill for self actualisation. The idea tha...

Scenes from Singapura: Serangoon Gardens and Waterloo Street

It will be an abiding regret that the notion of Singapura only arrived to me on the last day. It would have made life so much easier being able to separate what I loved about the place and what pissed me off to create an authentic home for myself which is free of the throat ramming propaganda which I am unfortunately subjected to when I return each August. I am certain that most people would probably say I have no clue what you are talking about. That's ok. I have to live in my head, not you. ;-) Breakfast at the market on the very last day My mom and dad are the most entertaining and hospitable people I know. They make coming home such a treat for everyone. Especially the boys. Oluak and Cha Tow Kuay and fish cake Simple, simple food. The current food craze which burn across the channels gives me heartburn. However, the well cooked oluak at the market, well that is to DIE for. Open air dining all year round Hawker centres, and I mean the ones which are run with i...

Seventh month

Image
Front row seats left empty for the spirits My mother reminded me that the seventh month, which was late this year, has just started in Singapore. The seventh month is the Halloween for Chinese people in Singapore, and because they are so badass, they do it for one entire month. For one entire month, traditional, non Christian Chinese people will burn all kinds of offerings to the lost spirits and the spirits of their ancestors. Everything from traditional money to paper models of BMWs, cosmetics, servants, whatever you can possibly imagine, will be burned for the spirits who roam listlessly for the entire month in order to keep them in good - er spirits. Shows will be put on and auctions for charities held all through the month. Giant jossticks are lit all night and performances and trances are entered which involve possessions and blood letting. Elaborate feasts will be found at the front of alters in hawkers centres - roast duck, suckling pig, colourful cakes, piles of oranges ...

Wading through molasses

Well, it is back to porridge. I was dreading this. The having to deal with the DVLNI as well as the courts, but you know, hey what, it was and has been great. I have been getting the most dreaded bit of the admin done and now i can move on. Although i have spent two hours on the phone to the Co-op trying to sort out my bank accounts which have somehow magically separated of their own accord. The guy who helped me out was really nice but honestly, to not know how that happened, i think the Co-op are a bit mental. I think i might end up banking with Triodos completely. The sun shone today, but i was too tired to make the most of it. It rained all of yesterday while i was in bed. I didn't even notice it was raining. This morning the flooding in the North West was something else. People were very pissed off. Very. The council and local authorities were completely unprepared for it. The River Foyle is practically on the same level with Derry so any sea level rise would be dreadful. It...

About to set sail. I am woozy after almost two days of bedrest. At this point i can't tell if i am really ill or just lazy. I am almost certainly procrastinating the adulting I am supposed to do. Like call the courts and see about my driving licence. I am prepared for the worst. However, here are also some nice boat pictures to cheer everyone else up. My sister has an AWESOME boat. I pretend i think it is all very twee, but i also love it. Especially when you get to use it to run away from Singapore. There are signs of Singapura at the harbour of RSYC. It is hard to believe but the few sampan boats which must have used the entire shoreline for free previously, are now corralled into a small beach by the side of the marina. I feel very sorry for them. But there isn't a lot one can do these days, apart from feel sorry for Singapura. Well, that's not true, but melancholia is a part of the Singapura sentiment. Here is Jac looking very sporty I am really no fit...
