329 - 17.9.26 - Ed Sheeran's Poop Tour

It was busy yesterday.

I worked on the short stories. I bought new hair dye. I treated Ma and Oisin to Fish and Co. I really must do the finance thing today or tomorrow.

I also spent an inordinate amount of time on the Ed Sheeran Poop Fest where he ditched his friend for the billionaire boss. The entire floor of this tour then dropped out as the IRISH artists who supported him said, actually this is cak. We can't do this.

Then this made all the artists also say, actually, yeah no, mate. And then the internet had a pile on.

I'm gonna be honest, I do not know what's good about Ed Sheeran. His music was Irish adjacent and i despite having lived through when he was most popular, i still could not understand what was good about him.

Anyway. He is now in the middle of an anti-Zionist shitstorm and if he thought that he could get out of it by saying, it's not me guv, then he truly is unable to read the room. I think that money happens to people and suddenly their moral compass is lost or they are unable to read it. I don't think yer man ever had one. It seems ironic that he was in a film about a man who rips off the Beatles, seeing how he ripped off everyone around him and made the music palatable for people who wanted to imagine he had an edge. 

He is now, for better or worse, lumped in with Boy George, Gal Gadot, Pink and now, Tommy Robinson has come out to say that he supports what he did. How tragic is that? Ed Sheeran. The English man who LARPed as Irish - well, FAFO, as Hegseth would say. He fine well knew that Macklemore was going to say something about Palestine and that he did not think that it would come back and bite him in the ass just goes to show that he 

It is almost 1 pm. Where does the day go to?

I just had lunch with Ma. I'll head for a swim at 2 pm. 

But yesterday... I was delighted to get the hair dye - I may be able to do that later today, after the swim. Life is good. Right. I will cut and paste everything and then tomorrow I can start editing. And I've realised that I can now start on the Human Rights and Education teaching pack as we are going to do it as a to go pack. We aren't going to have like a trial implementation or partner. We'll just advertise it. Maybe at the Writer's Fair. That will give me sometime to get it ready.

Geylang Serai is the place i feel most at home in Singapore. Possibly because a vast majority of the population are still Singaporean and i speak the language they speak there - Malay. Also, it hasn't changed that much. OK, it has, but i'd like to think it hasn't. We ate at the new market there which used to be a little better than an open sewer. But it was our open sewer and we loved it. Geylang was heaving with people getting ready for Ramadan. On the table we have sup kambing, otak-otak, nasi padang and rojak. Drinkswise we have lime juice, Kickapoo and teh. It is hot - really hot. We are all pespiring and we can feel our clothes stick to our skin and bellies and thighs. I wrote and read this for Pa at the service. It was in long hand, but I have it here typed out now. It is peppered with verses from the New Testament, because I was asked by the priest to refer to Jesus occasionally, so I made that concession. Big shout out to Ben and the Christian Community whom I spent many a delighted evening reading and discussing the Bible during Bible study class. =========================== Thank you everybody for coming here to honour the life of husband, father and legend which is Eric Sim Chin Seng. Pa crossed over on the 16th of March at 7.30 am. He went peacefully and gently. The Central Business District

The Thinker in the OUE building Yesterday i attended a talk which was organised by some environmentalists here. It was held in the NTUC building which was in the middle of the business district. It has been years since i have been here, so i set out early to walk about the place. Everything is very very large  I arrived during rush hour and people were simply pouring out of the MRT. The crowds were swarming down escalators and out of offices - but they were not overground. No, they were underground, at the MRT. In fact thee was no one above ground. For the business district at rush hour, above ground was eerily quiet! There must be dozen of buildings which look like these To think that hundreds of thousands of people work in places like this. I used to work in a place like this. Admittedly these buildings are far more swishy and very sleek. It was like being in some espionage film set in the future.
