This little pond has a cute history - it was the bath which
I used for Oisin and later Ghin.
It was given by Peter's mom, all those years ago.
Almost twenty years and it is still going strong.
Well, went for my run. Yes, it was amazing, in the rain. But warm rain, it isn't cold at all. And it also wasn't heavy. I had a very strange dream last night, so strange that my reality practically vanished this morning. I dreamt that I was in a school and I was a student, like I was in JC, but I was also teaching but in a Steiner school which wasn't my school. When I woke up for about ten seconds I was trying to figure out how I haw going to teach my regular class while teaching this new class - and with me were two friends from JC. It was the weirdest thing.

Anyhow, I have decided to do the history of music with my class, instead of them going to choir. It would be more profitable. I just thought, well Christmas is coming and any number of oratorios and cantatas are coming up - they need to know the structure of an opera and of symphonies and no one is going to do that for them if they don't do music theory - so I am now calling on the powers of my Classical Music training to my aid.

We start with medieval pleinsong today. Which is great because we start tomorrow with the last Medieval ages. The time when the Roman Empire met the Islamic world. It is fascinating really.

Yesterday I was thinking about how if you gardened you didn't really have to do yoga. One hour of gardening a day is all you need. Together with the running it is perfect. If I just stick to the schedule I've developed it will be perfect.

Today after school I will be heading to Ma's house to clean the upstairs bathroom. Then I'll need to get food for all of them followed by sweeping up the garden. The house will then be ready for their arrival.

I might end up staying there tonight t prep it, although I need to come back to wash the clothes and do the laundry. There is a pile of it waiting to be folded. It's ok, it'll all the done. What I have discovered is that if I don't watch anything on iPad I have loads and loads of time. I always do this to myself. Well Ma and Pa are about to start their journey. Can't wait to see them. Living in the 21st century is amazeballs.

Geylang Serai is the place i feel most at home in Singapore. Possibly because a vast majority of the population are still Singaporean and i speak the language they speak there - Malay. Also, it hasn't changed that much. OK, it has, but i'd like to think it hasn't. We ate at the new market there which used to be a little better than an open sewer. But it was our open sewer and we loved it. Geylang was heaving with people getting ready for Ramadan. On the table we have sup kambing, otak-otak, nasi padang and rojak. Drinkswise we have lime juice, Kickapoo and teh. It is hot - really hot. We are all pespiring and we can feel our clothes stick to our skin and bellies and thighs. Our hair is continuously in our faces, dripping and sticking too. The only thing that brings relief is a soak in the pool or a shower and an airconditioned room. The Central Business District

The Thinker in the OUE building Yesterday i attended a talk which was organised by some environmentalists here. It was held in the NTUC building which was in the middle of the business district. It has been years since i have been here, so i set out early to walk about the place. Everything is very very large  I arrived during rush hour and people were simply pouring out of the MRT. The crowds were swarming down escalators and out of offices - but they were not overground. No, they were underground, at the MRT. In fact thee was no one above ground. For the business district at rush hour, above ground was eerily quiet! There must be dozen of buildings which look like these To think that hundreds of thousands of people work in places like this. I used to work in a place like this. Admittedly these buildings are far more swishy and very sleek. It was like being in some espionage film set in the future. 19.3.26 - 74 - Eulogy: What will survive of us is love

I wrote and read this for Pa at the service. It was in long hand, but I have it here typed out now. It is peppered with verses from the New Testament, because I was asked by the priest to refer to Jesus occasionally, so I made that concession. Big shout out to Ben and the Christian Community whom I spent many a delighted evening reading and discussing the Bible during Bible study class. =========================== Thank you everybody for coming here to honour the life of husband, father and legend which is Eric Sim Chin Seng. Pa crossed over on the 16th of March at 7.30 am. He went peacefully and gently. He breathed his way slowly past this life and on to the new one, leaving his bark, his body, which carried him and his indomitable spirit and endless capacity to love, for 81 years, to say farewell to one last time.
