Just before our annual trip to Orchard Road...
| That is the living room in Mama's house... TV central... |
So we made that annual trip to Orchard Road because once a year is about all i can manage. It is hard to describe what Orchard Road has become. It is certainly something on steroids, but what i can't exactly say yet. You know how you can have Dior, Bulgari or Ferragamo boutiques? In Orchard Road, these names are departmental store sized... as you will see... and there are like gazillion people, and nothing but miles and miles and miles of airconditioned shopping malls. It has nothing there which either makes sense to me, or interests me. Today we went because there was SUPPOSED to be an exhibition on the Metta Sutra which did not matrialise, which says something i suppose, and a windless kite flying exhibition. Yep, a kite that does not need wind... here was our odyssey...

| In Toast Box, having a late lunch |
We were slightly delayed in Bishan MRT as Ghin tucked into a late lunch of chicken wings and toast. Don't ask.
| Oisin examines his toast with nothing on it. |
| We finally make it to Paragon, where Peter has ensconed himself in Canele and they are now studying the macaroon menu. This was the macaroon mooncake collection. |
| Ghin has a caramel and salt macaroon. |
| Followed by a bergamont favloured macaroon... yes there are marcaroons of every flavour and description you can imagine |
| Andy Warhol meets Heston Blumenthal |
| There you go, smile! That wasn't so hard was it? |
| We then saw a windless kite flying exhbition, which was accompanied by various string instruments, including a harp! |
In the background you can see departmental sized store sized Dior and D&G shops. I have no idea who buys this stuff and who would pay that kind of money to buy this stuff. It is insane. Surely part of the whole haute couture thing is its exclusivity. What can be LESS exclusive than floors and floors full of Gucci and MaxMara like some fake goods warehouse? And acres and acres of make up. I mean make up??? I buy like one tube of lipstick a year and one eyeliner pencil every three years? Who the hell buys all this make up? Who needs that amount of make up?

| See the balloons... those are the boys... |
| Clowning around on Orchard Road... |
Whew! that is another year over...
