On Singapore's 46th birthday....

The day started off with Ma cooking popiah at 4 in the morning. By the time i got up, everything, except the skin and the chili and garlic had been done. Anyway, to kill some time, i thought that we should go into town, which had been deserted due to the entire centre being shut down for the parade, and the public holiday. We made our way to Lau Pa Sat...

Dim Sum, of course

To have some Dim Sum... and Lau Pa Sat was mostly empty, apart from a very grumpy drinks auntie and the dim sum stall...

Here we have freshly made chee cheong fun... amazing!

Oisin anticipates breakfast

Hope you're hungry now.
Ma stayed home to make the popiah skins...

Teh peng all round!!!

Victorian architecture, just like St George's Market, but larger.

Don't see any blood? That's the Singapore Stock Exchange. Saved by a public holiday.

I stood in the middle of the road to get this shot. Ordinarily this would not be possible.

Then we went to fly Oisin's new toy, an AR Drone, used for surveillance in Afghanistan. Watch out East Belfast

Ghin played with rather more modest beyblades.

Popiah Party!!!!

Jac chipped in with Vietnamese version lor. Representing ASEAN.

This is what happens if you eat too much Vietnamese popiah.

Mother and daughter and siow bak

Terence watches the world economy go down the toilet.

Ma continues to prep the siow bak

As long as there is popiah, happy birthday Singapore.

That is the skin of the Vietnamese popiah, torn up for Alex. It looked like used condoms. Much laughter ensued.

Ghin show off his new Nerf gun.

Watching the parade on TV. Thank god.

In case of an emergency...

Like the warpaint....
