Bedazzled
The sun is out and it seems like we are having summer now. Last night Lisa came over for dinner and we blew eggs for the Easter festival with her daughter Tilly. But not before a bout of Xbox and some general mayhem which is to be expected if children are about.
Lisa and i enjoyed a bottle of wine and some excellent conversation last night. If i do say so myself. There is nothing nicer in the world – apart from running, sashimi and sex, clearly – than a beautiful spring evening masquerading as summer, and friends and conversation and wine. We had some leftover from Anthony’s dinner, ribs and then after we blew the eggs we made cupcakes from the remains.
Ghin had this idea of threading buttons too so as we threaded buttons we also blew the eggs. And drank the last of the wine, and talked and laughed.
Lisa and i are discussing a video. Possibly about homeopathy. I know it doesn’t sound very Cronenberg, but i think he might be overrated. Oisin asked us if we would win an Oscar, and Lisa said no, it’s an independent film. An invite to Sundance, maybe i winked. It’s amazing how smart, brilliant, clever and successful a shared bottle of wine can make you feel.
I did watch A History of Violence last night and was very disappointed with Viggo. This is the third film i have seen him in, apart from LOFTR and i just think, he is really nothing more than a pretty face is he? Like a raggedier version of Keanu, which is SUCH a shame because i really wanted him to be a better actor. I think he is supposed to have lots of depth, but that doesn’t really translate to the films.
Listen to me, who do i think i am?
But today is another very fine day. The sunglasses are getting a work out and today Kevin and Siobhan are coming over for dinner too. Then after that i’ll be making a pot of Thai Green Chicken Curry for the festival tomorrow. It’s a tough job, but someone’s gotta do it.
BTW, i saw my first swallow yesterday. It was a heartstopping, most gleeful feeling as i did a double take. And other signs of spring... chiffchaff singing. Willow warblers – yes, i heard one yesterday too!! And finally most recently, the tulips in the garden just unfolded overnight.
Simply bedazzling.
